India Airtel GPRS, USB cable, Ubuntu & Sony mobile
I tried connecting cell phones PC Access on various flavors of Linux, but I never succedded.
I tried Red Hat, Fedora Core 4, Fedora core 6 but failed to connect in all.
Here is how I succedded in connecting Airtel GPRS on Ubuntu.
1. Attach usb cable to your cell phone
2. Attach usb cable to your laprop
3. Enter command wvdialconfig
after you run this command you can see following in /etc/wvdial.conf file
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
New PPPD = yes
Phone = *99***1#
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
Username =
Password = saurabh
Baud = 115200
4. create a file /etc/resolv.conf
enter below lines in it
nameserver 202.56.230.5
nameserver 202.56.240.5
5. wvdial
and internet connection is ready to use on Ubuntu
